We had the pleasure of sitting down with Joseph Epstein, a Delivery Manager at Myers-Holum, to delve into his unique perspective on the ever-evolving realms of Stripe, NetSuite, and his remarkable journey at Myers-Holum, as he celebrates his four-year work anniversary.

JE: Certainly. Working with Stripe has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me. With my educational background in finance and astrophysics, I naturally gravitated towards fintech, and Stripe's position as a leader in the industry piqued my interest. The opportunity to assist businesses in their financial transformations using Stripe's exceptional suite of financial products, while simultaneously contributing to the growth of Myers-Holum's Stripe practice and partnership, was truly enticing. I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey thus far, embracing the chance to make a meaningful impact in this dynamic collaboration.
RR: That's interesting. Can you tell us more about the types of clients you've worked with implementing Stripe?
JE: My experience with Stripe has granted me the opportunity to engage with a wide array of clients, showcasing the versatility of their offerings. One aspect I find particularly exciting is the chance to work closely with some of the most innovative tech companies that partner with Stripe. From promising startups embarking on their entrepreneurial journeys to well-established enterprises, I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients spanning various industries. These industries include the realms of artificial intelligence, software development, healthcare, and even pet care, among others. The breadth of clients I have worked with has truly been enriching, as it allows me to leverage my expertise across diverse sectors while leveraging Stripe's solutions to drive transformative outcomes for businesses of all scales.
Client Projects Leveraging Stripe Solutions
RR: Could you share some of the interesting projects you've worked on with Stripe?
JE: Absolutely. One remarkable project I had the privilege of being involved in was with a rapidly growing, high-tech company that went through a momentous IPO. Being part of their journey and assisting in the rollout of a sophisticated robotic automation online marketplace was both exhilarating and rewarding. The project presented unique challenges that required us to innovate and adapt, and witnessing the transformative impact our solutions had on their operations was truly fulfilling.
Another noteworthy collaboration was with an internationally renowned HR software company. This engagement provided me with valuable exposure to a well-funded startup, working with a global team and navigating cross-cultural dynamics, broadening my professional horizons.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with companies that experienced significant milestones, such as being acquired by industry giants like Amazon. This presented a compelling challenge as we seamlessly integrated NetSuite and Stripe, improving operations and supporting their growth and evolution within the dynamic tech healthcare sector.
Each of these projects involving the integration of NetSuite and Stripe was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. They provided me with an up-close view of remarkable company growth, while allowing me to contribute to their success by delivering tailored solutions that addressed their unique needs.
RR: It's great to hear about your diverse experiences. Let's shift our focus to your experience at Myers-Holum. Can you share your thoughts on working at Myers-Holum?
JE: One aspect that stands out to me is the level of autonomy and trust the company places in its employees. From the beginning of my journey as an analyst four years ago to my current role as a Delivery Manager, I have been encouraged to take ownership of my work and contribute my unique insights and ideas. This level of empowerment has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has presented.
I must mention the tremendous support and guidance I have received from Darius, our CTO. From the outset of my time at Myers-Holum, Darius has been an invaluable mentor, providing me with expertise, advice, and encouragement. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping our practice and ensuring that we consistently deliver exceptional results to our clients. The collaborative culture at Myers-Holum, combined with the mentorship I have received, has created an environment that fosters growth, innovation, and a strong sense of camaraderie among our team.
Transparent Leadership: Fostering Growth
RR: How would you describe your management style as a delivery manager?
JE: As a delivery manager, my management style revolves around fostering a culture of trust, open communication, and personal initiative. I firmly believe that transparency and clear communication are vital for success. I strive to ensure that everyone on the team has a comprehensive understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and the goals we are working towards. This clarity enables individuals to take ownership of their work and make informed decisions.
In addition, I embrace a reverse shadowing approach, particularly with new team members. I encourage them to take the lead in client interactions, providing them with valuable learning opportunities and the chance to develop their skills, while knowing an experienced team member is always ready to step in for support if needed. With reverse shadowing, new team members are provided immediate feedback and guidance following client interactions. This approach not only empowers team members to build their confidence and expertise but also promotes a collaborative environment where everyone learns from one another.
Overall, my management style is centered around promoting autonomy, fostering continuous growth, and facilitating effective teamwork. By nurturing a culture of trust and open communication, I aim to create an environment where individuals can thrive, collaborate, and deliver exceptional results for our clients.
RR: Real-time feedback – very good for professional development. Before we wrap up, would you tell us a bit about you personally?
JE: Certainly! The most remarkable news for me is my recent engagement, and I am eagerly looking forward to getting married in April 2024. Wedding preparations have been keeping my fiance and I busy, and it's a joyous time in our lives.
My fiancée and I consider ourselves food enthusiasts and take pleasure in trying various cuisines available in the incredibly diverse culinary scene of New York City. We are also passionate travelers, and combine these two passions by seeking out food destinations across the globe. Over the past couple of years, we've had the opportunity to visit some renowned culinary havens like Lyon in France, San Sebastian in Spain, and Naples in Italy. These destinations are celebrated for their exceptional local culinary scenes, and we have enjoyed traveling to them and immersing ourselves in their culinary cultures.
