Maximizing NetSuite 2026.2

New Updates to Maximize NetSuite
September 22, 2026

Last month, NetSuite launched its seasonal update, NetSuite 2026.2. Since then, Myers-Holum’s experts have been test-driving the new features to help you get the most out of them. What’s great about 2026.2 is that you’ll feel the difference immediately: fewer touches from order through cash, better visibility for planners, and a handful of metrics that no longer need a custom report.

Here are a few areas that our team is most excited about.

1. Order to cash gets noticeably lighter

Our experts are thrilled that the revenue cycle now requires fewer manual touches, saving you time and avoiding complications. As Director of Solutions Architecture Kevin Zhou put it: “Alongside a plethora of expansive new AI features, NetSuite has also continued to enhance its match bank data functionality. Suggested matches for payment application to both open receivables and payables are now in the native bank match functionality — another quick win for your accounting team.”

That word native matters. Suggested matches now cover payables as well as receivables without bolt-on tooling, which means the value shows up as soon as the account is upgraded.

Payment application itself is also easier. Director of Solution Architecture, Kevin Staples, notes that “The ability to add one-off charges as part of accepting payments streamlines the Payment Application process and spares users headaches.”

Senior Delivery Manager Jordan Sellers was excited about the full set of AR changes: “Clearer pricing details, bulk price-rule imports, automated payment adjustments, and smarter bank matching reduce manual work from order through cash.” The result, in his words, is “a more intuitive user experience, greater flexibility, and fewer touches across the revenue cycle.”

What to do: have your accounting team run a week of live bank reconciliation against the new suggested matches before you change any process. The baseline tells you how much of your current matching effort 2026.2 absorbs on its own.

2. Supply chain and demand planning visibility

Two different features, one outcome: planners can see the drivers instead of reconstructing them.

Senior Delivery Manager Amy Atwood’s encourages users to revisit Exception Management: “Exception Management now includes inventory exception detection, giving supply planners a single place to review projected stock-out, shortage, and overstock exceptions on the Inventory Imbalance tab of the Exception Management page.”

She also offers the honest caveat: “Keep in mind this tool requires about 18 months of historical data to really add value, so many NetSuite users will not have gotten into the weeds of Exception Management during their initial implementation.” If you went live more than a year and a half ago, this is a feature you may have skipped at implementation that is now worth revisiting.

On the planning side, Kevin Staples highlights that “the pegging workbooks help provide better insight and reporting to our customers to understand the key drivers with MRP” — the difference between knowing what MRP recommended and knowing why.

What to do: confirm you have the demand history to support exception detection, then use pegging workbooks as the explanation layer when planners challenge an MRP result.

3. Manufacturing capacity planning

We suggest manufacturers look to Rough Cut Capacity Planning, which is “further enhanced to give better insight into both labor and machine constraints,” according to Kevin Staples. Constraint modeling that covers people as well as equipment makes the medium-term plan considerably more credible — particularly for shops where labor availability, not machine time, is the real ceiling.

4. Externally rated usage billing

This update is strategically significant for subscription businesses. Usage records can now carry externally calculated charge amounts from third-party mediation or rating platforms instead of relying on NetSuite to calculate the charge. Those amounts work with standard usage billing, Commit Plus Overage, and Prepaid models, and they flow through to Advanced Revenue Management so invoicing, revenue allocation, and revenue recognition stay aligned.

According to Principal Solutions Architect Eric Cheung, it is “useful for large integrations where rating, fees, carve-outs, and the like are generated by a separate engine and external changes with the customer are captured there instead of NetSuite. This allows for more flexibility in the design.”

What to do: if you have ever been told your rating logic was too complex for NetSuite to own, this reopens the architecture conversation. Keep the rating engine, and let NetSuite handle billing and revenue.

5. Project health indicators

NetSuite 2026.2 gives organizations five new out-of-the-box project health indicators: planned versus actual time overrun, overdue tasks, project resource coverage for remaining work, project margin (cost versus revenue), and unbilled approved charges.

Eric Cheung’s read is the right one: “Not anything monumental, but commonly asked metrics for delivery tracking and one less search/reminder/report to have to custom build.” If you are maintaining custom saved searches for any of these five, 2026.2 is a chance to retire them.

6. Authentication, sessions, and NetSuite Next

Two platform changes improve ease of use. Passkeys make login faster and more secure, and multiple concurrent sessions let users work across roles, accounts, and devices at the same time — a meaningful quality-of-life change for anyone who holds more than one role or supports more than one subsidiary.

On NetSuite Next and the AI experience, Jordan Sellers’ guidance is the disciplined approach: “Safely preview the AI-powered experience using a copy of production data, then manage adoption by role.” Preview against real data, decide who gets it and when, and roll it out deliberately rather than all at once.

Where to start

Every seasonal release invites the same mistake: chasing the most-discussed feature instead of the most applicable one. For most Myers-Holum customers, the fastest returns in 2026.2 are in order to cash and planning visibility — changes that require little configuration and remove work your team is doing manually today.

If you would like help assessing which 2026.2 features apply to your configuration, and in what order to adopt them, our team is ready to walk through your account with you.
